I am looking for job opportunities as a computer programmer in the NY/NJ area.

I have a Masters Degree in Physics from Oxford University (Pembroke) and a PhD in Astrophysics from Liverpool John Moores University. I also have nearly 4 years of experience working for a large IT Consultancy firm (LogicaCMG), where I experienced all areas of the software development cycle, including developing and maintaining code in C++, VB and PLSQL.

I am currently working as the Venus Express Software Operations Support at the Mullard Space Science Laboratory, part of the University College of London, where I develop and maintain code, primarily in IDL. I am also undertaking courses in MS Access, Dreamweaver and Pearl.

I am an enthusiastic and hard worker - good at working to tight deadlines. I have experience of working both within a team and also independently. I have worked in several different areas and with many different technologies and have found that I can pick up new skills and programming languages quickly.

I am a UK citizen, but I am looking for opportunities in the NY/NJ area for personal reasons.

I would require sponsorship for a work visa.
