I've just found a great two bedroom apartment in a Park Slope brownstone (right near the 2/3 and the B/Q), and am looking for a roommate. The room is big, sunny, and quiet (it faces backyards). It has parquet floors, a closet, and a mantelpiece. The rest of the apartment consists of a large living/dining room, a rather small galley kitchen, a modern bathroom, and two small rooms (for me). The landing is all ours (for shoes, umbrellas, & whatnot). There are only two other apartments in the brownstone, and the entrance is lovely — very Victorian, all wallpaper and wood panelling. move in date: as soon as possible.

An exhibition called Memling's Portraits, coordinated by Oxonian Colin B. Bailey, opens at the Frick Collection on October 12 and runs until December 31, 2005.

The Cambridge & Oxford Society, Tokyo

The Cambridge & Oxford Society, Tokyo (C&O) will become a hundred years old in 2005, and to mark the occasion a weekend of special events has been organised by the Special Centenary Committee and Honorary Secretaries of the Society from 25thto 27th March, 2005 (Easter Weekend). We hope that members of other Oxbridge Societies and their guests will consider visiting Tokyo on this occasion to join us for what promises to be a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable weekend.

OAANY Nutmeggers,

My sincerest apologies that more than two months have passed since our inaugural dinner at Mario’s without my getting in touch. My excuse is that, almost immediately after the event, I started work on a particular project that has been keeping me busy, and sometimes traveling.

Anyway, thanks to the twenty-five who came out on a wet Thursday night in late September when they could have stayed at home to watch the first presidential debate, or the New York Yankees. I know that I had a good time, and believe that you did too.

The OAANY knows of about 500 Oxford alumni in Connecticut. This e-mail is being sent to 35 alumni who either attended the Mario’s event, or have expressed an active interest in having a Connecticut chapter. I think it would be a great target to organize four OAANY CT events in 2005 – perhaps two speakers, one dinner or party, and one event tailored to families. I would appreciate your views on this goal.

Finally, I think the chapter needs a small “core group” of a few members to organize these events, and ensure that the Chapter develops in a way that suits the needs and interests of as many of us as possible. I would greatly appreciate volunteers. The time commitment should not be onerous.

I look forward to meeting you all soon, again or for the first time, and to getting the CT Chapter up and running in 2005. If anyone would like to organize informal Holiday drinks in 2004, I will certainly help.
