President's Letter

Dear Fellow Oxonian,
Those who attended the recent North American Reunion at the Waldorf Astoria on March 15-16 will know that the OAANY was very much in evidence. The OAANY continued
in its role as the official New York branch of the Oxford University Society, the organization which oversees alumni chapters around the world, by working with University representatives to explain alumni programs and the Association’s activities to Reunion attendees. Following the Saturday presentations, your Association sponsored an
extremely popular tasting of wines from around the world expertly served by Peter Morrell of Morrell and Company. We were delighted to see so many Reunion attendees stop by
on their way to their college events. What better way to cap off a day of stimulating lectures? Our vibrant program for the coming term reflects our mem-bers’ varied interests. This term, members can enjoy an elegant evening of Spanish wines and tapas at Morrell &
Company Wines, centrally located across from Rockefeller Center. In addition to offering discount tickets to a Broadway show with distinguished performer Simon Callow, we will be joining LSE alumni for a Pub Quiz in May and Cambridge alumni in June for a fascinating tour of emerging artists’ galleries in Chelsea, culminating with a reception. For an excursion beyond the city’s limits, sign on for an all day boat cruise in June up the Hudson to Lyndhurst Castle, the former home of finan-cier Jay Gould which has been designated a national landmark. We are also offering a family picnic in Central Park which those with children should particularly enjoy. Finally, please make every effort to attend the OAANY
Annual General Meeting, which will take place on June 27, at the offices of the Oxford University Press. At this important meeting, members will vote on officers and Executive
Committee members for the coming year. We also encourage you to attend because the AGM is an excellent forum in which to raise issues for discussion or volunteer your time to
help, from web site development to future events planning. We look forward to seeing you there.
